Biography
Dr. Ghassemi is the Director of IEE and WERC and is also a professor of chemical engineering at New Mexico State University. He oversees the operations of IEE, and serves as the Chief Operating Officer for over $7 million in annual programs focusing on education, research, and outreach in numerous energy-related fields including renewable energy, water quality and quantity, and environmental issues. He is responsible for administrative duties, operations, budgeting, planning, and personnel supervision for IEE and WERC. Dr. Ghassemi has authored and edited several textbooks. He has many publications and papers in the areas of energy, water, waste management, process control, thermodynamics, transport phenomena, education management, and innovative teaching methods. His research interests include risk-based decision-making, renewable energy and water, energy efficiency, pollution prevention, multiphase flow, and process control. Dr. Ghassemi holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Oklahoma and a M.S. and Ph.D. in chemical engineering, with minors in mathematics and experimental statistics, from New Mexico State University. He also serves on a number of public and private boards, editorial boards, and peer review panels
